Shane Davis, Executive Director of Benchmark Family Services, has been with the agency since 2006. Shane attended Mount Vernon Nazarene University, graduating in 2005 with a degree in Business Administration. He began working in the Florence, Kentucky office as a case manager and then became a placement/intake coordinator. He continued to not only meet, but exceed in his vision for growth, quality, and leadership. He was asked and accepted the Regional Director position in Benchmark Family Services in the Louisville office in 2008. Shane continued to be driven to use his abilities to further Benchmark Family Services as an agency. He became Director of Operations in March of 2011. He brought a fresh perspective to Benchmark and has continued to change the climate of Benchmark as they continued to grow. Shane has demonstrated a keen ability to recognize the needs of an ever growing agency as well as command the respect of the employees who work with him.

Teresa Knisley is the Program Administrator at Benchmark Family Services. She has been with the agency since 1996.  She is a graduate from The Ohio State University with her degree in Social Work and is a Licensed Social Worker in the State of Ohio.  Prior to Benchmark, her professional history has included the Department of Human Services and at Clark County Juvenile Court as a Probation Officer.  She has held several positions at Benchmark, including Therapeutic Support Specialist, Intake Coordinator, Regional Director, and Program Support Specialist which contributes to a broad range of understanding of the company’s strengths and challenges.  She brings experience, energy, and enthusiasm that contributes to the initiatives needed to accommodate both the growth and quality at Benchmark Family Services.

Continuing her work with non-profits, Alexis began with Benchmark in April, 2016. Benchmark’s mission encompassed her passion for working with non-profits and children. Tonika McMillon, Georgia State Director, has been with Benchmark Family Services since January 2013. She quickly grew the Brunswick Office, as the Regional Director, and was promoted to State Director in June 2014. Tonika brings a wealth of experience from public, private, for-profit, and non-profit agencies in both Georgia and South Carolina. With over twenty years of service to children and families, Tonika continues to serve and inspire. Tonika is an active member of several civic organizations within her local communities. Tonika earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology with an emphasis in Social Work from Georgia Southern University. She later earned her Master of Social Work degree from the University of South Carolina. Family time is especially important to Tonika, as she loves spending it with her husband and two children. During her spare time, she enjoys crabs: blue crabs, snow crabs, Dungeness crabs, soft shell crabs, crabs cakes, just plain crabs!

Tom Pechous is the Indiana State Director for Benchmark Family Services and has been with Benchmark since 2001. Tom graduated from Bethany College with a degree in social work and is certified as a licensed social worker. Tom has held many different positions within Benchmark including case manager, licensing specialist, trainer, supervisor, and regional director. Before joining Benchmark Tom spent five years developing and leading a community support team that assisted at risk children. Tom has continued those efforts leading and overseeing Indiana through therapeutic foster care services.

  • Dan graduated from the University of Kentucky where he studied psychology.

Dan Anderson has been with Benchmark Family Services since 2004 and currently serves as its Kentucky State Director. Dan began his involvement with Benchmark as a contract foster parent trainer in 2003. He joined the Lexington Regional office full time in 2004, handling foster parent training as well as various human resources and accounting duties. In 2005 Dan was named the Regional Director of the Benchmark office in Northern Kentucky. Dan served as Regional Director for approximately two years before he was named as Benchmark’s Director of Operations. During this time Dan authored Benchmark’s Operations Manual and helped oversee the growth and development of the organization. Dan took a hiatus from this role for more than a year as he worked solely with Benchmark’s data management system, ChildTrax. In 2012 he returned full time to his role as Director of Operations for Benchmark where he oversaw Benchmark’s data management needs and assisted the Executive Director in the management of growth, development, and quality control. In 2014 Dan returned to Kentucky as the State Director and continues to oversee the 13 regional offices and help Benchmark fulfill its mission across the Bluegrass State.

April has been with Benchmark Family Services since 2014, and is currently serving as the South Texas State Director. April started with Benchmark Family Services as a Licensing Specialist in the McAllen office and soon after took over as Regional Director. April is a graduate of The University of Texas Pan-American, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology with a Minor in Sociology. Prior to working for Benchmark Family Services, April worked for New Beginnings Behavioral Health Services which served at youth risk dealing with Substance Abuse/Dependency issues. April truly enjoys working with and helping at risk individuals, providing guidance, and sometimes just being there to lend a listening ear. Angela Johnston has been a part of the Benchmark Family Services team since 2009. She provided Case Management services in the Lexington Kentucky office until assuming quality assurance responsibilities in 2011 to ensure maintenance of standards for our CARF accreditation. Angela became part of our Program Support team in December 2012 with focus on quality and processes in our Kentucky offices. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Family Studies from the University of Kentucky in 2009 and has more than ten years working experience in administrative and financial business fields. Angela is poised to continue utilizing her business and social services education and experiences to positively impact the quality of services provided to Benchmark foster families and youth.

Shay Ristau, MS, LCPAA – Shay Ristau has been with Benchmark Family Services since 2013. She is a graduate of Southern Arkansas University, where she earned her Master of Science Degree in Coaching & Kinesiology. While working towards her Master of Science Degree, Shay worked for Methodist Family Health at a group home for up to eight at-risk adolescent males identified to have sexualized behaviors, ages 12-18. Shay is very goal orientated and always looking forward to setting and meeting new goals, individually and for Benchmark Family Services. Shay started with Benchmark Family Services as a Therapeutic Support Specialist in Dallas and soon after as the Regional Director. She currently works as the Program Support Specialist for Texas housed out of the Austin office. Her job duties include internal monitoring of offices, training staff, and ensuring quality and processes are maintained to provide the best services for our families and youth.

  • Sheila obtained her Master of Science in Education from Eastern Illinois University in 1998.
  • She has experience working with children for over 15 years providing crisis assessment and intervention, crisis/intensive counseling services, and pre-admission screenings for hospitalization of children in foster care.
  • Sheila joined the Program Support Team in April 2015, and currently works out of the Lexington Administration Building providing support and assistance to Benchmark’s Kentucky offices.

Sheila Rentfrow has been working with Benchmark Family Services, primarily as Treatment Director, since December 2006. Sheila has had experience in various other roles within Benchmark including Licensing, Intake/Placement, and Interim Regional Director in her nine years with the agency.  Most recently, Sheila joined the Program Support Team in April 2015, and currently works out of the Lexington Administration Building providing support and assistance to Benchmark’s Kentucky offices.  Sheila enjoys working closely with the local programs and staff to ensure positive programmatic development to ensure the highest quality of services for children and families.  Sheila obtained her Master of Science in Education from Eastern Illinois University in 1998 and has experience working with children for over 15 years providing crisis assessment and intervention, crisis/intensive counseling services, and pre-admission screenings for hospitalization of children in foster care, in accordance with child welfare programs in various other states including Illinois and Missouri.
