It only takes one person to change the life of a child in the foster care system. After growing up in the Indiana foster care system, and being in 18 different foster homes, Joshua Christian finally found his permanent home with one of Benchmark’s own – Indiana State Program Director, Matthew Oswald. Matthew was one of Joshua’s former caseworkers, who years later brought him into his own home to end the cycle of jumping from one home to another.
After finding his forever home with the Oswalds, Joshua is now working to help make the child welfare system better for other foster children. His biggest goal is to help other youth achieve normalcy. Joshua and his family also want to spread the importance of fostering older youth.
Take a walk through Joshua’s inspiring journey, and consider what you could do to make a difference in a child’s life.
